Journey to Ifá Mastery
Solagbade Popoola recounts his journey of learning Ifá from nineteen teachers across Nigeria. He traveled extensively, from Lagos to Oke-Ogun, absorbing knowledge from recognized experts. His dedication was evident as he spent weekdays away from home, often foregoing meals to learn.
Promoting Ifá through Orunmila
In 1985, Popoola launched the Orunmila magazine to educate people about Ifá. His efforts faced resistance from senior Ifá priests, who accused him of revealing secrets. Despite being summoned by the council of elders, he stood firm, comparing Ifá's openness to that of the Bible and Qur'an.
Why He Refused Ogboni
Popoola explains his refusal to join the Ogboni society, citing Ifá's superiority. He believes Ifá is the foundation of all traditional societies and values personal freedom over societal restrictions. He emphasizes that his beliefs are rooted in truth and personal conviction.
