Deep Dive
Introduction to HomeView
Apple's HomeView is a 7-inch display priced at $300, notable for its lack of physical buttons. It features facial recognition for up to six users, each with personalized home screens. Messages and calendars are visible only to the recognized user, ensuring privacy.
Display and AI Features
The screen can dim to an unprecedented 3 nits and adjusts its interface based on user proximity. Apple's new Siri AI understands personal context and provides real-time internet information, though it's currently limited to English.
Ecosystem Integration and Limitations
HomeView connects with Apple HomeKit, managing up to nine security cameras and other smart home devices. It lacks an App Store, relying on iPhone for third-party apps. The wall-mounted version is cheaper but lacks a charger and offers lower sound quality.
