Deep Dive
The Merchant's Dilemma
Merchant Bouazza, a wealthy and influential man, lived with his three daughters after his wife's passing. Each daughter had a distinct personality: Zahra was deceitful, Shama was arrogant, and Yaqouta was humble. Bouazza wanted to know how much his daughters valued his love. Zahra and Shama compared him to sugar and gold, while Yaqouta likened him to salt, which enraged Bouazza. Misunderstanding her metaphor, he disowned Yaqouta, leaving her to fend for herself.
Yaqouta's Journey
Yaqouta, accompanied by her nanny, left her father's home and traveled to a neighboring tribe. There, she met El Mehdi, who admired her humility and integrity. Recognizing the depth of her words, he proposed to her, and they married. Meanwhile, Bouazza's other daughters, Zahra and Shama, squandered their inheritance and treated their father poorly, leading to his downfall. Yaqouta's marriage brought her prosperity and happiness, contrasting with her sisters' misfortune.
A Lesson in Humility
Years later, a destitute Bouazza was invited to a banquet hosted by El Mehdi and Yaqouta, unaware of her identity. Yaqouta prepared a meal for him without salt, highlighting its absence. Bouazza realized the significance of Yaqouta's earlier words and sought her forgiveness. Yaqouta forgave him, and they reconciled. The story concludes with Bouazza living his final days in peace with Yaqouta, while Zahra and Shama faced the consequences of their greed and lost everything.
